WHO
WE ARE
The World Youth Foundation (WYF) is an international non-governmental
organization which was launched in 1994 with the aim to promote research,
development and documentation of youth programmes beneficial to youths
worldwide. The Foundation’s headquarters is based in Melaka, Malaysia
and is headed by Rt. Hon Datuk Ali Rustam who is also the Chief Minister
of Melaka, Malaysia and is assisted by a Board of Trustees. Since its
inception the Foundation has provided a platform for the interchange
of ideas among youth organizations both locally and internationally
by organizing various seminars for youth on areas such as population,
HIV/AIDS, human rights, education, environment, globalization etc.
VISION
To
become a world class youth Foundation by understanding and fulfilling
the needs of youth and their organizations.
MISSION
To
promote goodwill and understanding amongst youth through organizing
training, seminars, conference and exchange programs. The Foundation
works closely with the Ministry of Youth & Sports Malaysia, Malaysian
Youth Council, UN agencies in particular ESCAP, UNAIDS, UNFPA, international
NGO’s, Asian Youth Council, World Assembly of Youth and its member organizations.
WYF
OBJECTIVE
=> To
raise and administer funds to further the educational, cultural and
socio-economic development of youth at national and international level;
=>To
provide finance and support facilities for research and documentation
in the area of youth development and related challenges and to establish
a World Youth Research Database;
=> To
identify, encourage, promote and facilitate the expansion of educational,
social, cultural, environmental and humanitarian work conducted by youth
groups and movements globally;
=> To
liaise with local and international governments and non-government agencies,
and funding institutions that are actively involved in the field of
youth and human development. |
