Ground Breaking CeremonySummary of Rt. Hon. Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad,Prime Minister of Malaysia speech ( 3 May 1996 ) The
ground-breaking ceremony for the WYF's new headquarters at Malacca ,
Malaysia , reflected the commitment of the WYF's Board of Trustee in
erecting a permanent base for operations, one that would serve the
focal point for youth activities at national, regional and global
levels in the future.
Conducted in an
atmosphere of colour and tradition, the ground-breaking ceremony,
officiated by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Dr.
Mahathir Mohamad, was in itself a historic event.
In his speech, Dr. Mahathir stressed that youth leaders had to maintain their idealism and quest for fairness.
"Youth of today should be free to struggle for what is right, just as the youth of yesterday did," he said.
